It's often said, with regard to summer and college football programs, that no news is good news. Well we've got some news, and it's certainly far from positive. As originally reported by Warchant.com, Pender, a redshirt senior from Cape Coral, Florida, was arrested by the Tallahassee Police Department and charged with domestic battery by strangulation as well as obstruction without violence on Saturday.
Pender has struggled to find the field since arriving at Florida State in 2012, when he redshirted. He saw time in nine games in 2014 and three games in the 2015 season prior to suffering a collapsed lung. He's made rare appearances at practice since then, as he's been trying to return to health and help shore up Florida State's running back depth behind Dalvin Cook.
Update: a recent release from FSU Athletics says Pender has been permanently dismissed from the team.
