On Saturday, Florida State recorded its second win of the season, defeating Charleston Southern 52-8. Jimbo Fisher and players Derrick Nnadi, Travis Rudolph, Deondre Francois, Bobo Wilson, and Jared Jackson spoke following the game, giving their thoughts. A common theme around all the athletes was the quick, four day turn around between the Ole Miss game on Monday, and game on Saturday.
Head coach Jimbo Fisher was pleased with his team’s performance, but admitted that there were still things to improve on. The coach also gave an update on injured defensive back Derwin James who left the game in the third quarter due to injury.
Quarterback Deondre Francois wasn’t 100% pleased with his play on Saturday, even thought the Orlando, Florida native went 25-32 passing for 262 yards and two touchdowns. He also revealed a knee injury suffered during the Ole Miss game, however followed that up by saying it was not a factor in the Charleston Southern game.
Receiver and punt returner Bobo Wilson, who had an 89-yard punt return for a touchdown, takes us back through the play and how he was able to break free for the score.
After a 100-yard receiving game by Travis Rudolph, the wide receiver talked about his relationship and chemistry with QB Deondre Francois. Rudolph also expressed how he and his teammates were glad to see Bobo Wilson finally return a punt for a touchdown.
Walk-on receiver and special teams contributor Jared Jackson had a career day, recording three tackles on special teams after coming into Saturday with one career tackle in eight previous games. Jackson also had a huge hit on a returner, sending the whole stadium into “ooh” and “aah” mode.
Defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi talked about what it was like to finally be back in Doak Campbell Stadium and the great showing by the Florida State defense.
