The Florida State Seminoles clinched 3rd place in the ACC for the first time under Leonard Hamilton

Win and We're In: Previewing FSU at NCST

The first time these two teams matched up it was a dunk fest for the Noles, who led by as many as 22 before the Wolfpack scored enough during garbage time to close the final gap to 84-71. But this...

Revisiting Life Without Chris Singleton

After Chris Singleton’s injury I wrote a piece on how it would affect the Noles. For a full recap, you can read that here. Essentially, I believed that the key to replacing him on defense was to...

Florida State On Incredible Three-Year Run Of Defensive Dominance

A few days ago I took a look at FSU's turnover issues.  That's certainly a calling card of Florida State hoops.  But so is defense.  And as the 'Noles gear up for a third-consecutive tournament...

Florida State Baseball travels to Athens this weekend to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. You would expect this series to grab National attention but Georgia is not the same team it was 2 years ago when these games were scheduled. Kendal Rodgers of PerfectGame has some insight to this series. SERIES TO WATCH No. 7 Florida State at Georgia: This is a big series for both teams for vastly different reasons. The Seminoles earned a solid midweek win over rival Florida earlier this week, while Georgia scuffled in a loss to Furman. FSU hopes to improve on its perfect record while the Bulldogs are searching for positives after starting the season 2-6. Georgia desperately needs a series win over the Seminoles this weekend to get momentum in its direction. WHO’S NOT Georgia: The Bulldogs were shutout by Furman in midweek action and are 2-6 entering a weekend series against red-hot Florida State. The Bulldogs are at home against the Seminoles this weekend and must find a way to turn the tide. It has been a very disappointing start for a team perceived to have extra motivation. And in other College Baseball news relevant to FSU: STORYLINES TO WATCH Clemson vs. South Carolina: The last time these two bitter rivals met was in the College World Series last season. The Gamecocks defeated the Tigers twice to advance to the national title series, where they defeated UCLA to win the program’s first national title. Both teams are off to fantastic starts this season, but it’s Clemson that enters the series aiming for sweet revenge. No. 12 Clemson vs. No. 8 South Carolina: College baseball’s best rivalry continues this weekend as the Tigers and Gamecocks do battle. The Gamecocks beat the Tigers twice in Omaha last season to advance to the national title series, and Clemson would love nothing more than to take the series this weekend. The Tigers and Gamecocks both bring something to the table offensively, but it’s the Gamecocks that have been most impressive on the mound. Still, this is a series that always can go either way. We don’t expect that to change this weekend. Miami heads to Florida: Speaking of revenge series, the last time the Hurricanes and Gators locked was in the Gainesville Super Regional last season. The Gators won the series to advance to Omaha and the ‘Canes helped that happen with some atrocious defense throughout the series. The Hurricanes would love nothing more than to make that series a distant memory. But their pitching staff must rise to the occasion to accomplish that goal this weekend. No. 18 Miami at No. 1 Florida: The last time these two met the Gators beat the Hurricanes in a series and advanced to the College World Series. Now the Hurricanes aim to settle a score, but must get better pitching across the board to earn a series win. UF, meanwhile, hopes to rebound from a tough midweek loss to rival Florida State. The Gators definitely have the upper hand in this series with a fantastic pitching staff leading the charge. Florida State should win the series but expecting a sweep is a bit much. This is college baseball and Georgia still does have talent. As of now none of the games are televised. Go Noles!

Some notes from workouts today. - As we reported weeks ago, Greenlee and Ganguzza elected to graduate and pursue jobs as opposed to a grueling 5th year under Trickett that would almost certainly net zero playing time. Andrew Carter reports a lot of veterans will miss Spring healing up from surgeries. That's a big list, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. FSU definitely has a lot of its guys put off surgery during the season for after the year. This is just the price the 'Noles pay for having these guys during the season.

New player numbers RB Devonta Freeman #4. OL Sterling Lovelady #53 DE Cornellius "Tank" Carradine #91 DT Cameron Erving #98 DT Jacobbi McDaniel #55 CB Avis Commack #21 Fisher remarked that Jenkins and Hicks are getting bigger, which is definitely a goal for the off-season. Fisher said 258 pounds for Jenkins and 270 for Hicks. Decoding that, I'll go with 255 and 265. I thought Jenkins might miss Spring with the shoulder surgery but that is apparently not the case. JUCO guard Jacob Fahrenkrug is down to 310 from 330.

Sports Illustrated's Attempt At Investigation An Embarrassment For SI, Not College Football

Yesterday, Sports Illustrated came out with a story that it claims is embarrassing for college football.  In fact, the story is an embarrassment for Sports Illustrated.  I'm a bit late to the party...

Will Florida State Ever Fix Its Turnover Issues?

Another regular season of Seminoles basketball is drawing to a close. The 'Noles consistently do two things: play great defense and turn the ball over.  Yes, FSU has a very good record this year,...
