Florida State and Notre Dame baseball got creative during weather delay in Tallahassee

Bruce Thorson-US PRESSWIRE

The Seminoles and the Fighting Irish had no intention of 'taking it easy' during Saturday's weather delay.

While the evening's baseball game was slated for a 6 p.m. start, the weather in Tallahassee had different plans, forcing the Florida State and Notre Dame baseball clubs to take matters into their own hands.

I'm calling it the 'Rain Delay Games.'

What started as a harmless game of dugout bowling, where each team took their turn rolling a baseball towards a stack of cups stationed on the edge of each dugout, quickly turned into a battle of wits with each team trying to one-up each other, while also showing support and appreciation for the opponent's creations.

The fans inside Dick Howser Stadium instantly took notice and followed with moments of uproar, almost forgetting why they made their way to the ballpark.

I quickly decided to embrace the rain in an attempt to capture some of this on my iPhone so it didn't go unseen, soon forgetting I was one of very few not seeking shelter.

Today's doubleheader starts at 10AM and can be viewed on ESPNU
