Rick Leonard, a defensive end out of Maryland, will commit tomorrow. He is choosing between the Seminoles and the Clemson Tigers. Florida State is very high on Leonard, and he recently visited.
We wrote about Willie Haulstead's plight dealing with his concussion here last week, after he failed out of school. Now Coley Harvey has a follow up from Lamarcus Joyner.
"I was young, trying to prove a point, trying to earn stripes around here," he said. "Ever since that day, I've been a different player. I've been a different practice player, a different teammate."
At the exact moment Joyner saw the pass released and started racing across the middle of the end zone, he caught a glimpse of Haulstead streaking across the field toward him from the other side. Joyner thought quickly to himself: "When the pass touches Haulstead's hands, I'm going to blow him up and get all kinds of respect from my defensive teammates."
That's not exactly what happened.
Joyner blew Haulstead up alright, with a tackle that still shakes the defensive back to his core to this day. But the respect didn't come. The praise from the coaches didn't, either.
Nick O'Leary's first chance to speak with the media after his horrifying motorcycle crash (exclusive Tomahawk Nation video here) was Sunday at Media Day. I think the best quotes are in this democrat story.
“I was just going, not thinking the car was going to pull out,” O’Leary said. “It pulled out and just stopped in the middle of the road. I thought it was going to keep going real quick or back up. As you can see in the video, I was going to the left a little bit to see if I could get between the bus and the car. But (the car) was too far out, so I just turned back into it so I wouldn’t go under the bus.
“I made the choice to hit the car.”
Tom Lang of the Jeff Cameron show has some nice interviews from Media Day.
TL: And it’s your goal to get the other guys in the offense to respond the same way to the criticism?
JW: Of course. Like, they don’t get it worse than me. That’s what I tell them, ‘y’all don’t get it worse than us! We’ve got to sit in the meeting room with him and he’s ripping us in film for throwing touchdowns because we made the wrong read.’
My job is a tad different because I’m playing the tackle in one package, then I’m playing the end in another package,” McAllister said. “So I mean responsibility is key, because if you don’t do your job, you can really mess up for people blitzing off the edges… If you don’t stuff (the gaps) the right way, it can mess up a lot of things. There’s a lot of responsibility, especially on the line.”
Excellent preview of Miami. I think most of the issues that were a result of inexperience and depth last season should be fixed, but I do question Miami's overall talent level. With 20 starters back, and a schedule that brings Virginia Tech to Miami for the second-consecutive season, I think the Hurricanes can easily go 9-3.
Florida could add four four/five-star commitments in the next 24 hours (Chris Lammons, Ermon Lane, Quincy Wilson, Davonte Lambert). Of those, I think they have the best shot at Lane and Wilson.
