The Florida State Seminoles entered the indoor practice facility Thursday afternoon as they began to finish up their third week of spring practice. The players were in full pads as the backups continued to get valuable reps. Oh, and Mickey Andrews was in attendance!
The following players were not at Thursday's practice: Chris Casher, Terrance Smith, Nick O'Leary and Justin Shanks.
These players were present but not dressed out: Tyler Hunter, Ronald Darby, Nate Andrews, Tre Jackson, Derrick Mitchell and Colin Blake, who was wearing a sling.
With Tre Jackson still out, Kareem Are has been taking plenty of reps at right guard and continues to improve every day. Coach Trickett spends plenty of time with Are in an attempt to mold him into the player he wants, and he seems pleased.
Without Nate Andrews and Tyler Hunter participating, Tyrell Lyons and Lamarcus Brutus continue to get those reps with the first team defense. And without Chris Casher, Ro'Derrick Hoskins continued to take reps at defensive end with the first team.
While the secondary is seeing other guys get reps, the defensive line continues to be a mixture of Nile Lawrence-Stample, Eddie Goldman, Mario Edwards Jr. and Desmond Hollin, along with the previously mentioned Ro'Derrick Hoskins.
They worked quite a bit on kick returns Thursday. Karlos Williams and Kermit Whitfield are still looked to as the mainstays, but Bobo Wilson and Mario Pender are the other duo getting their chance to return kicks.
Jimbo Fisher will not speak following Thursday's practice, so the next time we'll get to speak with him will be Saturday afternoon.
