The Florida State Seminoles walked into the practice facility early Saturday morning while the banners surrounding the fields were being updated with the team's recent accomplishments. The players were in full pads as they finished up their third full week of spring practice.
But the coaching staff didn't seem too happy, and Jimbo Fisher gathered his team to talk some things over before practice even began, stressing focus and effort.
The following players were not dressed out Saturday: Reggie Northrup, Terrance Smith, Ronald Darby, Derrick Mitchell and Nate Andrews, along with the group missing spring in its entirety.
There were some interesting things, too, like Cam Erving taking reps as the first string center during walk-throughs. Josue Matias moved over to left tackle, with Kareem Are at left guard. It's no mystery that Austin Barron is the smallest of the group, but I can't imagine Cam Erving -- a guy that got so much praise at LT -- would come back for 2014 and not play that position. While I mainly see this as cross-training, I have had a sneaking suspicion that if Kareem Are can come along quickly, things will change on the line. This will definitely be something to keep an eye on. Also, Tre Jackson was finally dressed and fully participating Saturday morning at right guard.
Chris Casher and Tyler Hunter were also back and participating.
The Noles worked on kick returns quite a bit Saturday morning with multiple two-back combinations, usually involving Karlos Williams as the escort. Kermit Whitfield, Bobo Wilson, Mario Pender and Jalen Ramsey all took reps returning kicks.
Jimbo Fisher will speak following Saturday's practice and we'll bring you any updates.
