Florida State Seminoles football is getting back a key piece as defensive lineman Dennis Briggs Jr., who had opted out of the 2020 season, has returned back to the team.
The defensive tackle is currently warming up with FSU ahead of its game with North Carolina.
Briggs’ opting out was initially announced at a press conference that took place with university president John Thrasher, Florida governor Ron DeSantis and Florida State head coach Mike Norvell, when the head coach said that a second Seminole football player had opted out of the season due to the coronavirus, and further confirmed that player is defensive tackle Dennis Briggs, Jr.
Briggs, a redshirt sophomore this season, was the second player to opt out, following defensive end Jamarcus Chatman.
Briggs is a former consensus four-star recruit, and played in every game last season with two starts. Briggs was 16th on the team in tackles, totaling 28 with 3.5 for loss and one sack. Briggs also added one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
