I was reading espn today and not only did I see the new top 25 which Im not happy about but I also saw somewhere it saying because of the cheeting thing the players will be out for 6 games not the first 3. Anyone know what the deal is with that. If thats the case man next year is going to suck. Also I saw that the only FSU game that is going to be shown on ESPN will be the FUS vs NCST (Thurs.night game). Dont get me wrong Im glad because thats my house, wifes from raleigh and is a wolfpack fan but come on. I hope miami and fsu kick A@# this year and people remember how we play football in the south. The SEC is not the only conference down there.

Well there is one good thing about all the things going on at FSU. They might get a new start. I just feel bad for Jimbo. Hes being set up for failure. Hes going to be given control over a crapy team form a very prestigious football school. whats going to happen to him Im afraid is that hes going to have a hard time with what he has and everyone going to blame him for the out come. I hope Im wrong but I think thats how people see it. I mean look at what we have as a team. Drew Weatherford back at QB. HIS NOT Chris Weinke. At RB we have Antone Smith, who I like but hes not going to run up the gut and get very far. At the same time with the line how is he going to get out side so he can use his speed. There are a few FB and RB with some size that could help out a lot. At WR we lost the MVP, but I think thats a good thing. We still have Greg Carr and a Fr thats like 6'6 also. I dont know about the TE but if you use them they couldnt hurt. I also dont know much about the D but man they could use a lot more speed. I know I dont know very much about the team but I do love FSU. I just hope that Jimbo gets a far chance. I think he will become a great coach and I think we could see the top 25 post season in 2 years. mabye even top 10 but well see this fall how the cards are played. First things first if we can get to the ACC championship then next year win it then start to look at the nat. champ.

Hey Tomahawk Nation,

Today is the big day. We've switched your community over to the new SB Nation sports blog platform. My name is Trei, and I'm here to help you get adjusted to the new home we've built for you. If you have questions or trouble with the new system, post a comment in this thread and myself or one of the team (lovitt, sixfoot6 or odacrem) will try to point you in the right direction.

Before we begin, I want to let you know we still consider this a beta platform, so don't be surprised if you find a few bugs or if everything isn't exactly right yet. We hope you'll take the time to report any problems you encounter at bugreport@sbnation.com. We'll be continuing to make changes and improving things.

Please take a few minutes to read about what's new below. But if you just can't wait to jump in, here are some quick things to check out:

Sign up for your SB Nation network account and claim your old blog accounts

Once you're logged in, press your Z key in any thread with new comments

Explore your dashboard and setup your profile

Read the guide to the new FanPost editor

Install the FanShot bookmarklet and post videos to Tomahawk Nation from YouTube or images from Flickr

Click the "Rec" button on posts and comments to help other people find the good stuff.

Customize display options on your Edit Settings page

What Has Changed

SB Nation Network Accounts - the Big Change

Readers across all of our blogs told us they wanted one account to use on every SB Nation blog. To make this work, we're requiring that everyone create a new SB Nation network account. In most cases you should be able to keep your old username, but a few of you may have to choose something new, since every other community in SB Nation will be going through this same transition. We tried to be as fair as possible in deciding who gets to keep which name, using a formula that takes into account length of membership and frequency of activity.

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to participate on all of our blogs, but we don't want to encourage everyone to start visiting rival team blogs and initiating flame wars. To maintain friendly communities we ask that you explicitly join each blog in order to participate. It's a two-click process, but it does means accepting each blog's community guidelines. Just as you join each blog individually, you can be banned on each blog individually.

You can claim old accounts from multiple SB Nation blogs, and your new username will be retroactively attached to all your old comments and diaries. So now you'll be able to access all your writings from your single profile page... like magic.

To get started, click here to claim your old blog accounts and create a new SB Nation network account.

FanPosts (the Section Formerly Known as Diaries)

We changed their name. Why? Because we took this major upgrade as an opportunity to leave behind some vocabulary that never made much sense for a sports blog. SB Nation is the network of, by and for fans, and these are the blog posts we make. So we call them FanPosts. When you're at a bar telling someone to check out your online sports opinions, you don't have to suggest they read your diary.

FanPosts are displayed differently on the homepage - we include your avatar to give more credit for the time you spend writing great posts. The new post editor has a WYSIWYG view that provides easy formatting. It also auto-saves drafts so you don't have to worry about losing your work when you compose a post within the web browser. And you can now associate teams, players and games with your posts: these tools promote your FanPosts on our new team, player and game pages - across the entire network.

The new system does not work like the old diary editor. For example, in HTML mode the new editor doesn't auto-create a new paragraph from two line breaks. But it does offer a whole array of new features. Look for the blinking help button on the right side of the FanPost editor for quick tips, and take a look at our full guide to writing FanPosts on the new platform.

IMPORTANT - if you write your posts in Microsoft Word or some other off-line editor, you will get the most reliable behavior if you cut & paste your post into the HTML view of the FanPost editor. And if you do that, remember to wrap <p></p> tags around each paragraph so your text doesn't run together.

Visual Redesign

This one is probably the most obvious change of all. Like other major websites working to improve readability for their audience, we've adopted a fixed-width layout optimized for the 1024 x 768 resolution used by the majority of Tomahawk Nation and SB Nation network users. Use the switcher below the user menu if you prefer the wider layout designed for 1280 monitors. We've introduced a top navigation bar with quick links into old and new sections of the site. We also polished a few edges, made some things larger, others smaller and moved a few boxes here and there. More changes and adjustments to come.

Search

We've completely replaced the old search engine with a new one. We're excited to make it easier to find old posts and comments, but we've only taken our first pass on the tools we're offering. We're focused on making search even better than what you had before, so please know that we're aware search is missing key features and we're working on it.

What's New

Schedule, Scores, Stats and Roster

Tomahawk Nation now has all the basic information about the Florida St. Seminoles and hundreds of other teams. During games you'll see a regularly updated line score, and as the season progresses we'll track team stat totals and leaders. This is just our first step, so look for us to publish more detailed and archival stats in the future. The best part about all this sports data is that we've integrated it directly into the blog so. We now have special pages that aggregate all blog posts written about games, players and teams.

Recommending FanPosts

Some writing deserves more attention and more conversation. If you want to bump a FanPost up to the top and keep it there for awhile, just click the 'Rec' link under the body of the post. When a FanPost receives enough recommendations it will make the recommended list.

Auto-refreshing Comments

You no longer need to refresh the page to see new comments. If you're logged in, new comments will automatically appear on the page every few seconds. When you post a comment, the page will not refresh either. If you want to quickly cycle through all the new comments, you can press the C key on your keyboard. Unmark a new comment after you've read it with the X key. And use the Z key if you want to umark comments as you're cycling through them.

As you use these shortcuts to cycle through comments, press the R key to reply to the current comment. All these helpful keyboard shortcuts are listed at the top of each comments section for reference.

Recommending Comments

Now you can reward those folks who take the time to look up stats and make smart arguments in the comments. Next to each comment there is an 'actions' link that you can click to find the recommend and flag options.

Flagging Comments

To help the moderators on a site, we've built-in tools that let you flag comments that are spam, trolling or just plain inappropriate. Only moderators can see those flags.

FanShots

Many members of the community just want to post that one link, video, photo or quote, but don't need a full FanPost. We've got you covered: FanShots let you share YouTube videos, Flickr or PhotoBucket photos, quotes from articles, portions of chat transcripts, top 5 lists and simple links. If it's a video or image we'll put a thumbnail on the homepage when you post it.

For those of you who are experienced internet hunter-gatherers of Florida St. Seminoles material, install the bookmarklet onto the links bar of your browser and share FanShots with the community from wherever on the web you find that killer quote or photo.

Archives

It's much easier to find that post about a certain deadline trade or prospect retro feature. You can browse by year and month.

Avatars

Upload an image so folks can see your custom avatar on your profile, your FanPosts, and all your comments.

Network Profiles

Now that we have unified SB Nation network accounts, your profile will be your central hub for all of your activity on any blogs where you are a member.

Network bar

The top bar stays with you on all SB Nation blogs. It's a quick way to login and logout. When you're logged in, you'll see your avatar and screen name which links to your profile. The icon to the right leads to your Dashboard area where you can edit your settings, profile, account details and any FanPosts or FanShots you've published. As we add more blogs to the new SB Nation network, the My Blogs menu will be a handy way to navigate between the blogs you've joined.

-------

There are plenty more small changes and additions we've made, so please take a careful look around and explore this new system. We appreciate your patience and hope you'll help us improve the new platform for this and all the other SB Nation blogs.

And in case you missed it, you'll want to start by claiming your old blog accounts and creating a new SB Nation network account.

All true Florida State Football fans, there is a new Professional football league starting this April that will feature former college standouts from all over Florida.

The All-American Football league, AAFL, is set to kick off their season this April with one of their six teams in Florida. Team Florida has signed the top former College players from all over the state of Florida that didn't make it in the NFL. This is a great opportunity for many great Florida ball players to extend their career and possible even make it into the NFL.

The AAFL is pleased to announce an innovative fundraising program, where youth organizations have the ability to raise money through ticket sales for their local AAFL team.

We started this program last week, and it has already been very well received by various Church Youth Programs, high-school teams and clubs, as well as many other charitable and non-profit organizations. This program provides organizations with a fun, exciting way for their members to raise much-needed money. We have already heard from many organizations that they have never seen their kids so excited and motivated to participate in a fund-raiser.
For larger events and to kick off an organization's fund-raising efforts; players and coaches from that local AAFL team, as well as a group of ex-NFL players are available to attend your event and speak to the group. We will match the speakers with your type of organization to ensure the message they deliver is a good fit for your organization. They deliver a powerful, positive message to these young adults; ranging from faith-based messages to anti-gang, drug, and alcohol messages. They are also happy to sign autographs and have their pictures taken with the kids.
The potential money an organization can raise is substantial, and there are generous prizes for the organization members -

· Top 3 in every Organization -
o 1st place - $250 Gift Card and 4 $53 season tickets
o 2nd place - $100 Gift Card and 4 $43 season tickets
o 3rd Place - $50 Gift Card and 4 $33 season tickets

· Top 4 in every State -
o 1st - $2000 cash prize
o 2nd - $1500
o 3rd - $1000
o 4th - $500

· Top Person between all states - $5000 cash prize

If you are interested in learning more about this for your organization, or have questions; please contact us at fundraising@aafl.com; or by calling 877-286-3248. You can learn more about the league by going to either; www.AAFL.com www.AAFLUSA.com or www.AAFLSOURCE.com

ACC Championship Location on the Move to Tampa!?

GREENSBORO, NC -- The Atlantic Coast Conference has awarded its future Football Championship Games to Tampa Bay and to Charlotte, John Swofford, the Commissioner of the ACC, announced Wednesday....

JScott:

This is fairly interesting news. I'm kind of disheartened by it, as I enjoyed Jacksonville and its one of a kind stadium, but as they say, "The show must go on" ..... Tampa isnt a bad site at all, especially since the games will be played in MY Tampa Bay Buccaneer's Raymond James Stadium in '08 & '09..... Not Bad, Not Bad at all, until of course the Championship Game moves to the Carolina Panthers Dome (Charlotte) in 2010 & 2011.... They moved on this issue pretty quick. I can't say I'm that shocked. I know this excites a lot of you...

Swofford announced that the league has awarded its football title game to Tampa Bay for the 2008 and 2009 seasons and to Charlotte for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The decision was reached unanimously Wednesday morning on a conference call of the league's athletics directors and faculty athletics representatives which culminated a seven-month bid and selection process which began last June.

The sequencing of the cities was largely influenced by a city-wide convention in Charlotte in 2008, which limited access to key Uptown hotels and ancillary event areas. The awarding of the Championship Game for four years allowed the Conference to meet each city's request to host the event for a consecutive two-year period.

"We are extremely excited about the future of the ACC Football Championship game at these sites," said Swofford. "Both Tampa Bay and Charlotte are tremendous destinations in terms of their football venue, community support and partnership with the Atlantic Coast Conference. Both locations have outstanding leadership as well as surrounding communities that have embraced the opportunity to continue the growth of our championship game."

The ACC's Football Championship Games on December 6, 2008 and December 5, 2009 will be held at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, the Outback Bowl, as well as Super Bowls XXXV (2001) and XLIII (2009).

"We are excited about the opportunity to not only host, but to also grow this game to a level that's befitting of the Atlantic Coast Conference," said Jeff Adams, Chairman of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. "Based on the overwhelming support we have received from the Tampa Bay community, we are confident that we will meet and exceed the ACC's expectations."

The Conference's title games on December 4, 2010 and December 3, 2011 will be held at Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers and the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

"Charlotte is delighted to have been chosen to host the 2010 and 2011 ACC Football Championship Games," said Tim Newman, CEO of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority.

"With many amenities coming on line by 2010 including the NASCAR Hall of Fame and several new hotels and entertainment venues within walking distance of Bank of America Stadium, ACC fans will have a great time in Charlotte for those games.

"We wish Tampa Bay much success for 2008 and 2009 and look forward to bringing the Championship to a great centralized location for all ACC Fans in 2010 and 2011. Many fans will get a preview of what Charlotte now offers when we host the 2008 ACC Men's Basketball Championship next March."

The first three Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Games were held in Jacksonville, Fla.

I just wanted to tell everyone on here how much of a dumba** my friend is that goes to UF. In highschool, one of my friends Joe Hills was being recruited by a bunch of D1 schools for football (he ended up going to South Carolina). Les Miles came to our school and i saw him and was like no way. Being the person that i am i went up to him and asked to take a picture with him on my friends camera phone. Miles was cool with it and we posed and i asked him to show off his ring. He said here you go and let me wear it. It was the peach bowl ring and my friend took a picture. When i asked my friend to look at it he said
"oops i deleted it". And off went Les Miles...I still haven't forgiven that pathetic gayter!

Bowden gets contract extension.

Bobby Bowden and FSU agreed to a contract extension for one year and just under 2.5 million dollars according to: ESPN.com. In the quick article it states that TK Wetherell says Bowden can coach at FSU as long as he wants, which we all pretty much know. I was thinking maybe if Wetherell told Bowden he could coach at FSU as long as he is winning maybe we'd be in a different position than we are right now!

JScott: Here's what Coach Bowden had to say when asked whether FSU was going to name OC Jimbo Fisher his successor in order to keep Jimbo from thinking about leaving:

"No, I think that's speculation,'' Bowden told Steve Czaban of First Team on Fox. "I think that's booster talk or rumor talk. I don't know of anything like that that's in the works.'' Coach Bowden went on to say that he wouldn't want to name his eventual replacement "because I don't think it's good for the staff... I think something like that you have to put on the back burner.''

Who wouldnt want to put that on the back burner?? Hah ..... I think the writing is on the wall for Bobby. I feel this will be his last season and I think the program should Treat it as such. It's only fitting that he goes out, while Jimbo takes over with his players. Another (7-5) season would all but secure this scenario.....

Is it that simple though? Pushing out the greatest thing to ever happen to Florida State Athletics? We all know who the field is named after ....... I hope Weatherford and company can at least muster a (9-3) performance that will have Bowden going out successfully, rather than possibly being shown the door after a disappointing season and potentially severing any remaining good ties this University has with the Old Ball Coach.

from espn.com coaching rumors:

One of the leading candidates for the vacant Southern Miss head coaching job is Florida State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher. While at LSU, Fisher helped groom JaMarcus Russell into the top pick in last year's NFL draft. Fisher is in his first year with the Seminoles as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Another name to watch is South Carolina defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix, who played and coached at Southern Miss. There was also some contact with Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, but Muschamp isn't believed to be interested.

haven't we had a enough problems for the last 6 years? lets hope that's all this is, just a rumor.

I'd like to hear some of y'alls thoughts on how you think we'll fare the rest of the way. Before last week, I thought we would finish 2-2 in our last four. I knew there was no way that we'd lose to BC, VT, and Florida, and now we know that we won't. Do you think this team can duplicate last week's play? Not just how well they played, but how smart (much fewer penalties than usual) and mistake-free they were?

I am really jacked for this weekend's game. I know the atmosphere in Blacksburg will be rockin, and I hope we can rise up again.

Alright, I've been to about 20 college stadiums in my short lifetime and there is something that has always bothered me coming back to Doak. I remember coming to games as a kid in the 90's (I was at the 93 championship), and I remember Doak being wild, everyone standing and making noise. Where are our fans now? It's not loud at Doak anymore, I know its been a rough past couple of years for the program, but we can still be hell on an opposing team if we try. The swamp has always been loud, even during the Zook years. They NEVER shut up, that is what I want Doak to sound like. Why do we get quiet when they are calling their play, then try to get loud when they get to the line? Just never shut up when we are on defense. I have season tickets in the booster section and I find it hard to believe these people are alumni or even care about the team with how they just SIT and watch without cheering at all. Does anyone else agree with me on this?

The biggest joke in the NCAA is Michigan though, I've been to the Big House two times and sat in the student section once... YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A CELL PHONE CONVERSATION AT A FOOTBALL GAME! This is mid play and I'm on the phone with no problems hearing what so ever. The fans are soooo quiet, even in the student section.

Also, why are so many fans so quick to jump all over this team? I am correct in thinking it's going to take more than 1 or 2 seasons to get this new offense in and producing results (9-10 wins), right? I know we're FSU and we have athletes, but come on... our o line is lazy and is just now learning real technique. The problem with all our older players is that they think they are the ish just because they got recruited by FSU and are playing with a spear on their helmet. Hopefully they start getting these new recruits playing like Preston Parker, who looks like he's straight off the '93 team playing as hard as he can on every snap.

Do you remember the days when FSU games weren't quite so stressful? I mean, we always had a slight element of stress just because just one loss can mean no national title...so everything is on the line...every game...BUT...our games were more about excitement than stress...cuz in the back of our minds we kinda always knew we'd win...we were Florida State for crying out loud....but then things changed...and saturdays became...uh WOW...sooo stressful...and alot of times, embarrassing....and i would catch myself thinking in the back of my head "but this cant be happening....we're florida state for crying out loud!!"...but nevertheless, it was happening....so i would sit every saturday, stressed out...trying different combinations of bracelets, t-shirts, hats, earrings...because this stress also made me very supersticious...ok, so the hat and bracelet combo worked last week and we won...so i have to wear that this week....um, yeah...cripes...anydamnway....my point is this...im sitting here watching our game against wake forest...and for the first time in a long time....im not STRESSED...im a little stressed, but not STRESSED...im actually watching our offense, being led by lee, completing passes and putting points on the board...its kind of refreshing...and nice...so maybe the change that we have all been praying to the football Gods for is upon us...maybe pretty soon we will be what we once were...maybe we will be able to sit, watch a game, and know we cant lose...cause we're florida state for crying out loud!....
umm...or maybe its just this earring/pin combination that has worked for the past 4 games....lol...go noles ---------->win this please...for the love of GOD.

We havent done this too often, but Lake City Seminole came so correct with this diary, that we had to bump it up so everyone HAD TO SEE IT ... Good job my man, well thought out, nice delivery ... I'm not sure if I agree with the "...we're now where we thought it would take 2 more years to get to!" .... I can't put that much pressure on "X" just yet. Next year though, no holds barred. Checkout this mans synopsis on Chuck Amato and how he can give that extra added advantage to the Noles this weekend. Again, excellent piece!!

So, just for the hell of it, I took the afternoon off. Here I sit, in my FSU shorts, t-shirt, and flip-flops sitting on the porch with a laptop and a cold beer pondering the game tomorrow.

Some quick things to note:

1. I am not one to say I told you so -- normally. I have said all along that whether Drew or Xavier is the best quarterback is almost irrelevant. Who cares how much better Drew may be if he is one-dimensional and predictable by defenses? I have said all season that at least with X in there, if the play breaks down or pocket collapses, he has the option, and can run the ball to make something out of nothing. It makes defenses prepare and change their schemes. Instead of sending all their guys after the QB, someone will have to stay home in case he scrambles out and breaks free. Apparently, Tom O'Brien, head coach of NC State, feels the same way.

"You have to prepare for him in the running game, not only the passing game," O'Brien said. The 6-4, 233-pound Lee gained 59 yards on 11 carries and threw for another 224 yards and two touchdowns.

Make defenses work and make them think. On a football field, your worst enemy can sometimes be your own brain. Xavier makes defenses sit up and take notice. Let's hope he has a field day with NC State.

Chuck Amato. That's right, the former FSU coordinator-turned-NC State head coach-turned-back-to-FSU Coordinator has a huge advantage knowing many of these guys in a way coaches only wish they all knew their opposition. We're talking Bill Belichick type information. Granted, NC State is 1-4, and lingering around the deepest and lowest points of all offensive categories, but I want every advantage. FSU needs to capitalize on every tool they have and bury the Wolfpack early, and bury them deep. This is critical in the development of Xavier and the confidence of the team. Play a game where you whip someone, have a lot of fun doing it, and get the Noles Swagger back.

Defense, defense, defense. The Seminoles defense is exceptionally good looking right now, and playing an NC State team that has had their share of problems with turnovers, averaging almost 4 per game. Bowden knows that, Mickey knows that, and I would look for a lot of blitzing and hurries on Evans, who is starting this game. Evans had a great game against FSU last year, getting 3 TD passes en route to beating us. Look for Amato to provide the information to give the defense any extra edge they may need.

The crowd at FSU this weekend will be loud. The team, the fans, and the coaches know what this game means to the program, and to Amato. In a way, there is some resolution here. A little payback, if you will. The Seminole fans can smell it in the air, they can feel that feeling again that has been absent for so long. All of a sudden, with a potent and explosive QB at the helm, a defense worthy of a king's ransom, and a coaching staff that is unmatched, we have realized, "Holy crap...we're now where we thought it would take 2 more years to get to!" We are right there, one or two players away from being the team we knew we had and knew we could be. And I don't mean, we need that one or two -- we have them. It's just a matter of getting that confidence back, that swagger, that gut-feeling that you are going to walk up to the other team on the first play of the game, hit them in the mouth and knock them down, and say, "You have 4 quarters of that, Cupcake."

And who wouldn't get excited about that?

Let's go Noles. Have fun, play hard, and send this Pack home with their tails between their legs.

Lake City Seminole's Prediction

FSU 38 - NCState 10
