Buster Posey = Stud

I usually don't follow too much college baseball and following FSU college baseball especially can be an exercise in futility.

But upon returning from my extended weekend I saw that FSU drilled Savannah State in a four-game weekend set (yes big deal) but that potential Player of the Year Buster Posey played all nine positions  in the game.

“At some of the positions I was glad the ball wasn’t hit to me,” said Posey, who used four different gloves in the game. “First base is probably the weirdest one just because I really never played there and I played on the left side of the infield. I’m glad I didn’t get any rockets over there.

“…I was looking forward to the outfield just because I’ve never been out there too much.”

He also hit a grand slam by the way, so congrats to Buster for an accomplishment that hasn't been done at FSU since Mike Martin Jr., now an asst. coach with the program, did it in 1984 or 1985 or something.

Now let's get past those pesky regionals!

Regional Update...

...FSU rolled in the early game, beating Stetson 17-1 which means the Noles must win tonight's game against Mississippi State to have the right to play in the Bulldogs tomorrow night in a "winner-take-all" scenario.

Meanwhile Clemson has the advantage in their Super Regional after defeating Coastal Carolina, 11-8 in the winners' bracket game. Coastal Carolina must defeat St. John's and Clemson twice to advance.

FSU loses 9-4. Baseball team continues long stretch of mediocrity that is well hidden during the regular season.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly...

The FSU baseball team version.

The Good: Despite bowing out of the ACC tournament early, Florida State will host a regional starting Thursday at Dick Howser. The other three teams in the region are Mississippi State, Stetson and Bethune-Cookman.

The Bad: FSU looked pretty bad in the ACC Tournament losing handly to Miami and Clemson. It's not a good sign for a team that has failed to reach Omaha since the 1999-2000 season and generally plays its worst baseball in the late spring.

The Ugly: If things go the way they might, FSU would have to face Clemson in the Super Regionals. Need I say more. The good news is, however, Clemson is traveling to Coastal Carolina's region and that will not be a walk in the park.

FSU2817 will probably have the diaries to keep us up to date. Until then, let's GO NOLES!
