Everette Brown Draft Party & NFL Draft Open Thread
First things first, former FSU player and current GM of the Lions, Martin Mayhew, is taking a lot of heat for giving Matthew Stafford $41,700,000 in guaranteed money. The salary cap increased by 3%, but Mayhew game Stafford 20% more than last year's #1 pick in guaranteed money. I have that it is pretty dumb, but it is only $5Mil more than Matt Ryan got last year.
Here's our scouting report on FSU DE/ OLB Everette Brown.
Everette Brown is being considered by most of the 3-4 teams. I really doubt he goes in the top 3rd of the draft (top 10ish). He should go between picks 10 and 55 (mid 2nd round). Some chance he could go at Pick 9 to Green Bay, who are transitioning to a 3-4 defense. At Pick 11 Buffalo needs a defensive end but loves Aaron Maybin of PSU. Pick 12 Denver is transitioning to a 3-4 defense, but I doubt we see him here. Things might be interesting at pick 15 where Houston might need an olb/de rush guy. Again with pick 18, Denver is transitioning to a 3-4 defense. Staying local, at pick 19 Tampa Bay. Needs another DE, but I don't think Brown is a fit because Gaines is already a WDE. At pick 24, Atlanta needs a defensive end, but again, they need a big defensive end since they already have the small guy in Jon Abraham. At Pick 25 Miami needs an OLB. This one does make some sense to me. At Pick 26 Baltimore needs all kinds of edge rushers and they had success with fomer 'Nole Peter Boulware. At pick 28 Buffalo needs a defensive end, might Everette go here? At Pick 31 Arizona needs a defensive end. Most think they go RB, but I am not sure. After that, expect him to go in the 2nd round to one of the above listed teams or possibly to Cleveland, Carolina, or San Fran.
Whoever drafts him, we should all go to the corresponding blog for that NFL team and wish them well. Everette is a total class act.

Preston Parker Arrested
Preston Parker was found asleep behind the steering wheel of his red Dodge Charger. His car had the engine on and was stopped at the drive-thru of a McDonalds. He had a .054 blood alcohol content (the legal limit is .08) and also admitted to smoking marijuana.
One of the requirements of last year's gun and drug charges was that he undergo regular drug tests. This latest news is obviously a violation of his plea agreement and if the charges hold he is, for all intents and purposes, done at FSU.
