Chiefs Stay Home for Emerald Bowl

No word on whether FSU will allow the far superior NC-Central band to take the trip instead, but the Marching Chiefs will stay home for the holidays and save the school $750,000.

far superior????
far superior? thats pretty funny... yeah i saw the thursday night game with that band. yeah they did a decent job... but calling them far superior... that is a little much. that is like someone saying famu is a better band. there are many factors in this....

needless to say, the Chiefs are one of the most reputable programs in the nation. just b/c they dont play the latest song by lil' john or ludacris does not by no means make them a lesser program. remember show a little respect... they were at 5 out of 6 losses this year.... probably more than any of us....

The N.C. Central Band Director...
...is an old roommate of mine while at FSU so I'm admittedly bias.

I like the Chiefs. I love their sound. I think the days of a 450-piece marching band are over and I wish they'd update their songs to match the atmosphere of the football game.

Their musicianship is wonderful, but how many of the 83,000+ fans at Doak really care about the technical sound? They just want more fanfare from the band and more updated halftime shows. Case in point, I was in Columbus for an OSU game last year and they don't play the updated hip-hop tunes either, but they do enhance the atmosphere of the game with their selection of sounds.

That's all I want.
