Latest Hot Jimbo Fisher rumor....

...has the FSU offensive coordinator headed to Arkansas.

Level of Seriousness (1-10): Solid 7.

With Arkansas being an SEC school with a good bit of riches and a location accessible to all the talent in the Southeast & Texas.

The Rivals Arkansas site says that there have been rumblings that Jimbo will be the next coach from recruits.

Personal Take: Good for Jimbo, disasterous for FSU at this stage in the recruiting game as we say goodbye to our franchise quarterback recruit (E.J. Manuel) and at least three other top offensive recruits if he goes.

I have to take this one more seriously than the Southern Miss. and Georgia Tech rumors because Arkansas is a place that has the resources and desire to win. It's also in the SEC where winning quickly can pay off huge dividens.

I know, I know
I just don't want to see Bobby hang on just long enough to screw us out of someone who we believe can get us back on track.  Since feeling awful about the state of the program for the last 5 years, I'm actually excited about the next couple years and what Jimbo's players and offense will bring to the table.

if he goes
He goes

There's WAY TOO MANY alumni who wouldn't allow FSU to be run into the Ground. T.K. Wetherell is one of them.

Would it suck to lose Jimbo, sure, but its not the end of the world.

Fisher to offcially succeed Bowden
According to what I just read on ESPN, it sounds like the school is going to come out and say that Jimbo will be Bobby's replacement whenever he leaves.  That's comforting.

Not impressed...
I don't know if I had too much expectation for Jimbo but this year i wasn't at all impressed. I don't know why but I just can't picture Jimbo as the head coach at FSU. He just doesn't seem to have that swagger about him like Bowden does. I'll give it to Fisher that he'd be following one of the greatest coaches in college football. I think it has something to do at the pep rally before the season. Bowden and Amato spoke but Jimbo kind of hung around in the background...Who knows, we'll see when the time comes.

I know what your saying
This season with Jimbo at the helm was a let down.... it feels like were always putting the blame some where: Chris Rix sucks, No Jeff Bowden sucks, No this current caliber of athlete at FSU sucks (they have no heart/desire) minus Preston Parker.......

you're also right about the QB situation, Jimbo muffed it up big time. First by going with the same old same old in Weatherford and then by bringing in Weatherford for one series to only bring him right back out, you can't do that to Xavier. Lee screwed himself in the end tho

BUT like Zest pointed out, Jimbo's track record speaks for itself. Hell, he may not even be able to implement the offense he wants too, because his current crop of Jeff recruits are either too stupid or too thick headed .......

I thought we'd be better than we were by default, but it didn't happen. That's Jimbo's fault but it also has a lot to do with the talent on the field. Its just not there.....

You gotta give Jimbo another year or two (more like three since Bowden's sticking around) before you totally judge him...... he basically has to revamp the system in order for us to see what he's truly capable of and that will take a few graduating classes to unload.

I think you'll also see Jimbo's swagger as he gets more accustomed to his surroundings, plus he's got plenty of personalities around him to overshadow his own presence...... hang in there man

yeah...
I'm probably over-reacting, but man this year was one hell of a disappointment--especially after such a stomping by UF. I just feel so dang bad for Bobby Bowden. You're one of the greatest coaches to ever coach football and your sputtering out. I wish this team would pull something out of their asses and show up next year with a 9 or 10 win season. Solidify Bowden as the greatest coach since the 80's!!

P.S. Geno you're just gonna leave like that? Too scared of Tebow? Come back next year and knock his block off!!!

yea
It is a shame to see Bowdens legacy become cloudy toward the end, BUT he brought this upon himself by making his baby boy his OC ..... FSU would have let Bobby make Osama Bin Laden his OC, but Bobby should have nipped that thing early on and didn't and may, just may have tarneshed what he's accomplished (not in my eyes tho)

Yea I feel Geno is chumping out too, but I guess he could still come back. I can't for the life of me fault him for jumping to the NFL though ...... I've at least quinched my thirst for watching Hayes play at FSU, I can't say the same for Lawrence Timmons however

Pep Rally?
Your goin to base your coach on a Pep Rally?  Are you serious?  Jimbo is a good coach and I believe that he will show that he is a great coach when he gets his system and his way!  I believe next year he will have installed his system and that the players will have a grasp on it.  I dont think it will be til the 3rd year where we can say a National Title is in grasp b/c I think we will go between 8-4 and 10-2 next year.

by KnightNoles on Dec 5, 2007 4:56 PM EST   0 recs

no...
Actually i'm basing a coach on how he acts as a coach. I haven't seen much from him this year. What have you seen this year that made you say, "Hey he'd be a great head coach"? I just haven't seen that. He couldn't decide on a quarterback, his offense was almost as bad as last years, and i'm not so sure his offense is what FSU needs. I don't even know how to classify his offense, maybe a west coast style? FSU doesn't run a west coast style offense. Carr had 12 td catches last year and what 4 or 5 this year? He's the tallest man on the football field, at least give him some fades in the end zone. I don't know if Jimbo has the righ quarterback to run his offense and next year will be the same. If the O-line doesn't improve we just might have another 7-6 record.

Well
Did you watch LSU you the past how many years at all?  Did you watch the Saban team, they won a national title, destroyed many opponents last year and during Miles tenure he was under, and Miles didnt even let him have full control of the Offense! So what if hangs around in the background, he gets payed to show up with the team, he might get some kind of showing up check for the media, but Im sure he rather be breaking down film and all that stuff then a pep rally..

Dang
Give the guy the benefit of the doubt.  He's got a strong track record, and our offense has shown some good flashes this year.  I thought he called a hell of a game vs Boston College and if we had some good protection and solid play from Drew or XL, we would have won a few of those close ones that got away from us.  I think he and Trickett are going to be a great offensive combo and I'm really looking forward to what he'll bring to the table.

TRACK RECORDS
TRACK RECORDS MEAN SOMETHING DONT THEY, THIS YEARS TEAM HAD LITTLE HEART AND THAT LTTLE HEART WAS ALL INSIDE PARKER, FISHER WILL BE GREAT FOR RECRUITING AND HIS SYSTEM WILL SHOW ONCE THE HEARTLESS POS'S ARE GONE, WHEN GUYS GIVE AN INTERVIEW AND ADMIT THAT THEY DONT GIVE 100% THEN YOU CANT EXPECT A WINNING SEASON THIS YEAR WAS JUST A LUCK OF THE DRAW THAT WE FINISHED OVER 500, GIVE JIMBO TIME AND QUIT EXPECTING MIRACLES FROM A TEAM THAT HAD ONE OFFENSIVE PLAYER THAT GAVE A SHIT, THIS PROGRAM WILL TURN AROUND SOON JUST GIVE IT TIME CAUSE ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN OVERNIGHT
