It would be difficult to fully comprehend the struggle that Florida State University endured to schedule a football game verses the University of Florida without first explaining the birth of the animosity between the two schools.
As one of the senior (in age, not in eminence or prepotency) editors here at TN, I take pride in my knowledge of the history of FSU football from a time before many of the other members here were even born. Therefore, when I come across a article or story that I feel can educate the younger members, I am always eager to share it, especially when it concerns a topic that has been discussed on our boards on many occasions.
Our friends, Rich and his writer, PJD3883, at Garnet and Great, have posted the most in-depth and best researched story I have ever read regarding the history of the FSU/UF series, and what it took to make it happen. This very interesting and informative story tells, in detail, how after years of stalling, procrastination, hindering, and stonewalling any football match-up between the 2 schools, it finally came about after the involvement of the Legislature, the Board of Control, the media, and even the Governor, when UF was finally forced to recognize and play football against FSU. On that great day in Seminole football history, the headlines of the Tallahassee Democrat proudly read
"UF-FSU FOOTBALL ORDERED"

Kudos for the nice job by the Garnet and Great team, and for all the interesting and historical stories they post.
