First Thoughts of 7-on-7 Drills

Those of you with premium subscriptions to the websites have seen the drills already so you can read my opinion or skip it having already formed your own.

More below the jump.

When all things are equal and healthy you can see a clear talent advantage Lee has over Weatherford. Unfortunately for Lee talent alone doesn't win ball games as Weatherford has experience, trust of the coaches & teammates and repetitions.

That being said, Lee is obviously going to try to use these practices and the upcoming training camp to display his health and get the ball down the field. That's the main difference between him and Weatherford. Weatherford is a better planner and has slightly better mechanics. Lee is the quarterback that can confidently go down the field.

Will it make a difference? Probably not. The coaches are sold on Weatherford's leadership ability and they should be. The elder Bowden has also shown in the past few years that he is loyal, almost to a fault. Weatherford is also a fine quarterback that some believe can and will lead FSU to a national championship.

One thing is for sure, this year will decide the future of these two young men. Lee will take his best shot at winning the position and Weatherford will do everything he can to keep it. By the end of the year, someone will be the starter and someone else will probably be looking for another program to showcase his talents.
