Who Will Replace Lilly?

Yes...I don't even want to talk about the basketball team's pathetic performance in the second half against Wake Forest.

Meanwhile John Lilly's departure really wasn't a surprise to many people if any. There's a new sheriff in Tallahassee and he's brought his officers and they have all but taken over the department.

So it wasn't a shock that Lilly, the only holdover from last year's offensive staff shakeup, would depart to coach with one of his best friends, Mark Richt.

His recruiting coordinator duties were severely reduced by the hiring of Bob LaCivita and the new philosophy of FSU football was one he did not feel meshed with his own personality.

So who will replace John Lilly? They might move some coaches around (Jody Allen to TEs is always a popular opinion) and whoever they bring in will have a big hand in recruiting, especially in South Florida.

Two names to watch are Rutgers assistant Chris Demarest and Florida International assistant James Coley.

Demarest has coached at FSU before as a grad assistant in 1998 and 1999 and coached with Chuck Amato at North Carolina State until 2003. Coley is an FSU graduate who was a GA under Jimbo Fisher in 2003-2004 before moving on to coach with Mario Cristobal at FIU. Both guys have a great reputation as recruiters, especially in South Florida. Coley actually grew up, went to high school and started his coaching career in Dade County.
