#7 Florida State Seminoles Baseball Travels to Wake Forest Demon Deacons: Series Preview

This weekend preview is going to be short because there really is no reason to breakdown this series in much detail due to the fact that Florida State is a far superior team than Wake Forest.  The Demon Deacons are easily the worse team in the ACC and have been for years.  Although this is a road trip and the Seminoles starting staff has been questionable all season and we might be without one of our best hitters there are no excuses for not coming home with winning at least 2 out of 3 games.

Pitching Preview:

As you can see Wake Forest was absolutely terrible in 2009 ranking last in almost every category.  In 2010 the Deacons still rank near the bottom in every pitching category despite seeing numbers improve.

For FSU they will more than likely start the usual weekend trio of Gilmartin, Gast and Parker.  It was documented last week that these three are having poor years and with the solid pitching of others recently they're jobs could be in jeopardy.

If they continue to struggle against an anemic Wake Forest lineup this weekend you can almost bet on something to change in the weekends following.

Offensive Preview:

Wake Forest is equally as bad at the plate as they are on the mound.

In 2010 they have posted a slash of .239/.292/.338, with an offense about as potent as Emilio Bonifacio they will struggle to score runs as they are averaging just under 4 runs per.

For the Seminoles' offense it has been an under achieving season at the plate in 2010 ranking in the middle of the pack in just about every offensive category.  Things could get worse for them too as Junior DH Stuart Tapley injured his knee avoiding a tag last night against UNF and had to be carried off the field.  Anyone that tells you that Tapley needed to see the bench because he strikes out too much is out of their mind and you should put no validity into anything they say with regards to baseball.  He has been one of our best hitter this year and there is no one on the bench that can come in a replace his bat.

This should be a good weekend for the Seminoles, they need to travel to Wake Forest, put the beat down on an inferior team and gain confidence moving forward.

Go Noles!
