Is Christian Ponder starting for Florida State against Wake?
There are many rumors out right now about this. PlantTheSpear.com earlier reported that he was not starting, however other sources say different. I believe these reports are premature at this point even if they turn out to be true. Vegas has pulled the game off the board. This isn't a big deal. The goal is to have a healthy, in sync Ponder for the Miami game on October 9th. As we reported earlier in the week, Ponder is battling a deep tricep bruise. Florida State will get with Ponder, Fisher, coach Craig, and the team doctor to make the call. If the benefit of playing and getting the reps with the young wideouts outweighs the risk of aggravating it, Ponder will play. If not, Manuel will go. There's also the professional concern for Christian that NFL scouts will see him playing to less than his true ability and not adequate consider his injury when evaluating him. I do not believe any decision has been made as of this morning. I do believe that EJ Manuel, the promising red-shirt sophomore QB who has been working with the first team all week has been told to be ready just in case. At this point I think FSU is continuing to monitor the situation. This shouldn't matter much in this game. Wake Forest's defense is about as bad as Samford's.
