FSU Baseball Seeks Series Win: Live Game Thread

Fill your day with Florida State sports by following the rubber game against the Georgia Bulldogs in preparation of tonight's basketball game against NCST Wolfpack.

If you are not aware by now the Noles lost their first game of the year yesterday in part to a solid pitching performance from the UGA starter and untimely hitting from the Noles offense.  Florida State left 5 runners on base in the last 2 innings of the game trailing only by 1 run.  In a situation where bunting across a run would not have been a bad decision Martin let his best hitters swing away.  I take no issue with this but it just makes his decisions to bunt earlier in games when the opportunity does not help you even more perplexing.

Scott Sitz gets the start for the Noles today at 2:00 PM.  The game isn't televised and unless you pay for radio you can't hear it either.  I will be updating in this thread as the game moves along.

Starting Lineup

  1. Travis
  2. Johnson
  3. McGee
  4. Ramsey
  5. Boyd
  6. Lopez
  7. Tapley
  8. Gonzalez
  9. Easterling

For being such a deep team on both sides of the ball I wonder why Martin keeps going with what is known

Go Noles!

FINAL UPDATE:

The Seminoles beat the Bulldogs today in what was not a great game by either team.    The Georgia pitchers and catchers had issues with wild pitches and past balls while the defense made errors leading to 2 unearned runs.  Florida State used 6 pitchers to beat the Dawgs and while they were not sharp they got the job done.

What does this series tell us?   Florida State is not going to be able to roll through opponents with talent, UGA has talent and each game was decided on the last at bat.  ACC play starts next weekend and will be a true test of just how good this 2011 team is.
