Florida State Ranked 10th After Beating Rival Miami

Beating a bad Miami team was not enough for Florida State to move up in the Coaches Poll. The 'Noles remain ranked 10th.

Florida State improves to 7-1 with a win over rival Miami. The 'Noles struggled on the road, again. That, coupled with horrendous officiating, stalled multiple drives. Points and yards were left on the field that made this game closer than it should have been. Eventually, talent and depth won the game. It was ugly.

The 13 point win was not enough to move FSU up in the Coaches Poll. They sit at 10, the same as last week. At this point, FSU will have a difficult time moving up in the BCS or the Coaches until teams in front of them start losing. There is still plenty of time for that to happen. Of course that assumes the 'Noles continue to win.

A top 10 team did lose this week. However, South Carolina's beat down at the hands of the Gators made room for 6-0 Oregon State. The Beavers leap frog FSU into the 9 spot. South Carolina gets bumped from 8 to 16. Will the South Carolina loss be enough for FSU to move up in the BCS rankings?

Undefeated Mississippi State is ranked behind FSU at 12. They play Alabama next week. Their most likely crushing defeat will not make any room for FSU to move up. Georgia, who beat Kentucky 29-24, is also ranked behind FSU at 11. Their likely loss to Florida this weekend won't help FSU either. Possible games that could help Florida State climb next week include Notre Dame at Oklahoma and Texas Tech at Kansas State. The most likely scenario for Florida State, with a win over Duke, will have them ranked right at 10 again.
