Despite the considerable negative press associated with playing Savannah State, FSU moves up one spot in the AP Poll. Florida State finds itself tied with Oklahoma for 5th place. Florida State was not the only ACC team to climb after playing an outmatched opponent. Clemson moves up one spot to 11 and Virginia Tech moves up two spots to 13.
With some luck (Michigan St. plays Notre Dame next week), Clemson could move into the top 10 before they come to Tallahassee, providing fans with a top 10 match-up in Doak Campbell stadium. Of course, that only happens if Florida State does not stumble in its first FBS game of the season against Wake Forest.
BYU, Arizona, Tennessee, and UCLA all find themselves ranked for the first time this year. UCLA pulled the upset over Nebraska. Arkansas drops all the way out of the rankings after being upset by UL-Monroe. Kansas State jumps 6 spots to 15 after drubbing Miami. Florida also makes a big jump 6 spots to 18 after beating Texas A&M by 3 points.
What are your thoughts? Where should Florida State be ranked? The AP moved FSU up. Should Tomahawk Nation in the BlogPoll? See the full rankings here.
UPDATE: Florida State remains ranked 6th in the Coaches Poll. Neither Nebraska (24) or Arkansas (21) dropped out of the ranking. Clemson is at 11 and Virginia Tech at 13. Florida up to 17.
