Gameday Central: Maryland at Florida State

New, comments

Florida State looks for consistent play against undefeated Maryland.

Rob Carr

Maryland (4-0) at Florida State (4-0) 12:00 PM ET

Watch on: ESPN

Listen to: 'Nole Radio Affiliates, Terp Radio Affiliates

The Spread: Florida State opened as a 16.5 point favorite.

The Weather: Looks like tropical storm Karen will take her time before impacting the coast. A shift to the west and a delayed track should keep the game dry. Only a 10% chance of rain, mostly sunny and hot. Heat index around 90.

Florida State hosts conference foe Maryland. Maryland brings a perfect record and a statistically highly ranked team to Doak. Neither team has had to play an incredibly tough opponent.

Maryland had a bye last week. The weekend before, Maryland dismantled a struggling West Virginia team. In their last game, Florida State struggled early against Boston College. For a handful of drives, FSU's defense locked down the BC offense. The rest of the game was plagued by missed tackles, missed assignments, and players not playing disciplined.

The 'Noles need to put together complete defensive effort against the opportunistic Terps. On offense, Winston needs to keep his big play mindset under control and take check downs when needed (continuing theme here).

Reserve LB Ukeme Eligwe has been suspended for the game due to violation of team rules. Starting DE Mario Edwards Jr returns to the line up after hand surgery.

Miami had a big challenge with UF. Then they played to awful teams. Now they are back in conference play against Georgia Tech. Morris was dinged up last week against USF. Worth seeing how he has recovered. Clemson travels to New York to take on new conference opponent Syracuse.*
