Florida State (40-15) got early run support as Lacey Waldrop and company shutout Boston College (14-38) to advance to the ACC semi-finals. Waldrop pitched a solid four innings, striking out eight, as she earned the win for the Seminoles.

“Lacey threw well,” head coach Lonni Alameda said. “We mixed a little bit different pitching than we usually do and kind of set up batters and stuff. Now we have more weapons as we go into the next couple of days.”

The Noles helped Waldrop out early on as they scored five of their six runs in the first two innings. Second basemen Kelly Hensley paced the Garnet and Gold with two RBIs and two walks. Hensley finished one-for-two on the day.

“It’s definitely,” Waldrop said on the early run support. “They’ve been doing it all season so it’s kind of expected now. It’s great. Three or four runs is all we need, but to get six is a really great feeling.”

Shortstop Maddie O’Brien did it all for Florida State, finishing one-for-three with an RBI, a walk, and scoring a run.

Monica Perry would enter the game in the fifth inning to pitch for the Seminoles and close it out. Perry, expected to pitch tomorrow, went three innings, striking out five while only allowing one hit.

The Seminoles will face the winner of Georgia Tech and North Carolina. Florida State is set to play tomorrow in the semi-finals at 3:30p.m.
