Redshirt tallies

With a large amount of garbage time, we can now see who among freshmen is likely to redshirt. This list does not include medical hardship, as that can happen if a player's season ends via injury before a third of the season is completed.

Neither DE Davarez or DT Keith Bryant participated against Nevada. This is expected, as Davarez is raw and Keith plays a loaded position. Davarez has reportedly practiced some at TE, but coaches are likely to try to keep the redshirt for him.

As would be expected, John Franklin was a non-participant. As he was promised a shot at QB, with a three deep it is unlikely to see the field this year.

Among OL, Bell and Denson have seen extensive action in garbage time, however, I seem to recall Bell limping off the field yesterday and not coming back - may be a candidate for a medical hardship if that keeps him out for an extended time. Ryan Hoefeld has not seen the field this season, however, but that was expected.

Among the linebacker class, Ro'Derrick Hoskins and Terrell Lyons have been non-partipants. Maybe not expected (though if they played, it would be limited to special teams) but not surprising

Finally, Jeremy Kerr is a non-participant as well, but he is expected to miss at least the first half of the season recovering from a pre-season injury. Coaches may try to preserve a redshirt once he's healthy.

And double checking against the Pitt participation, no non-participants among true freshmen were participants the first game.

Overall, no big surprises on who is apparently redshirting -- that given the depth at DB, it may be surprising to some that Nate Andrews and Marquez White have seen game time
