Every week we take a look at what results across the country could most benefit Florida State's chance of making the playoff, even it suffers a loss. Some have suggested rooting for the teams that would give FSU the easiest path to a championship, but given that even the most optimistic estimates put FSU at about a coin flip to stay undefeated, getting to the dance is a more important goal.

I'll be grouping these by conference.

SEC

-Mississippi State at Kentucky: Kentucky, the Wildcats have only about a 10-15% shot, but that's a shot.

-Ole Miss at LSU: LSU, this could really happen.

-South Carolina at Auburn: South Carolina. There's a scenario where the SEC is completely left out of the playoff, though it involves a ton of chaos.

-Alabama at Tennessee: Tennessee, because that would be loss No. 2 for the Tide.

Big Ten

-Michigan at Michigan State: Wolverines, because that increases the possibility of a two-loss Big Ten champ.

-Ohio State at Penn State: Penn State, increasing the chance of a two-loss Big Ten champ.

-Rutgers at Nebraska: Rutgers, increasing the chance of a two-loss Big Ten champ.

Big XII

-Texas at Kansas State: Texas, because again, it increases the chance of the two-loss Big XII champ.

-Texas Tech at TCU: Tech, because it increases the chance the Big XII champ has two losses.

-West Virginia at Oklahoma State: Cowboys, because it helps FSU's strength of schedule, even though the new QB in Stillwater is terrible.

Pac-12

-Oregon at Cal: Cal, because a Cal win would effectively eliminate the entire Pac-12 from the playoff conversation.

-Arizona State at Washington: Huskies, increasing the chance of a two-loss Pac-12 champ.

-Arizona at Washington State: Cougars, increasing the chance of a two-loss Pac-12 champ.

-USC at Utah: USC, increasing the chance of a two-loss Pac-12 champ.

ACC

-BC at Wake: BC, because it increases the chance of another bowl team being on FSU's schedule.
