Florida State football practice report: 10/6

The 'Noles began preparation for their trip to Syracuse.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida State Seminoles returned to the practice fields again on Monday to begin preparation for Saturday's away game against Syracuse.

After getting a little banged up against Wake Forest, the following players were not dressed out on Monday: Karlos Williams (boot), Demarcus Christmas (boot/high ankle sprain, per Fisher), Rashad Greene (concussion) and Trey Marshall who, after suffering a concussion against NC State, is apparently still working to come back.

Austin Barron was not present.

Derrick Mitchell, who missed all of last week, was back in pads but still seems slowed by previous injury. Eddie Goldman and Justin Shanks remained as the duo in the middle, However, as we saw against Wake Forest, in the nickel, I think we might see more and more of Mario Edwards Jr in the middle with Goldman.

After losing Austin Barron to a broken hand, Ryan Hoefeld stepped into that position against Wake Forest. But during Monday's practice - and not the walk through - Hoefeld, along with Cam Erving and Alec Eberle, all took snaps during the offensive line drills with the starting guards and tackles on each side. I imagine Hoefeld will start against Syracuse, but it looks like they're making sure everybody gets their shot at snapping the ball.

Jimbo Fisher will not speak following practice, but the media should get a few players.
