Florida State Collects League-High 17 All-ACC Selections Again

Seminoles match school record with 10 first team All-ACC selections

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – No. 2 Florida State led the 2014 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Football Team for the second straight season with a league-high 17 selections  announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).

The defending national champion and nationally-second-ranked Seminoles placed 10 first-team selections, as voted upon by 55 ACSMA members. The 10 first team selections matched a school record set by the 1994 team which included first team selections: CB Clifton Abraham, DE Derrick Alexander, LB Derrick Brooks, RB Warrick Dunn, CB Corey Fuller, QB Danny Kannell, WR Kez McCorvey, OG Patrick McNeil, C Clay Shiver and OG Lewis Tyre.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Jameis Winston, redshirt senior offensive lineman Cameron Erving, the ACC’s two-time Jacobs Blocking Trophy recipient, senior wide receiver Rashad Greene, senior tight end Nick O’Leary, senior right guard Tre’ Jackson and redshirt sophomore kicker Roberto Aguayo all earned first team honors on offense in. It’s the second straight season that Winston, Erving, Jackson and Greene earned first team honors.

Junior defensive end Mario Edwards Jr., junior defensive tackle Eddie Goldman, junior cornerback P.J. Williams and sophomore safety Jalen Ramsey earned first team honors on defense.

Winston leads the ACC in passing yardage (3,250 yards) and total offense (302.3 yards per game). Greene leads the league in receiving (1,183 yards on 86 catches).

Erving was among three players who earned All-ACC honors at two positions. He was chosen at both first-team offensive tackle and second-team center. Jackson, one of six semifinalists for the Outland Trophy, is a three-time ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week honoree.

O’Leary, one of three finalists for the Mackey Award given to the nation’s top tight end, ranks second on the team with 44 catches and 517 yards and ties for the team-lead with five TD receptions.

Aguayo, the 2013 Lou Groza Award winner, has converted 22-of-24 field goals and 49-of-49 on extra points. He ranks second in the ACC in overall scoring with 115 points and leads the ACC in kick scoring while tying for the team-lead in field goals made.

Collecting All-ACC second team honors were redshirt junior linebacker Terrance Smith, senior left guard Josue Matias and freshman running back Dalvin Cook.

Earning a spot on the All-ACC third team were senior right tackle Bobby Hart, junior cornerback Ronald Darby and junior linebacker Reggie Northrup. Greene earned honorable mention as a punt return specialist.

Twenty-two student-athletes chosen to the 2014 All-ACC Football team by ACSMA are repeat selections from last season.

Coastal Division runner-up Duke had nine players selected, including four on the first team. Eight student-athletes were chosen from Virginia, while Coastal Division champion Georgia Tech followed with seven and Clemson, Louisville and Miami each placed six student-athletes on the squad.

Each of the ACC’s 14 football member schools placed at least one player on the first-, second- or third teams.
