With the large South Florida population of FSU fans and alumni, one of the main showcases of the year for the Florida State Basketball team is competing in the Orange Bowl Classic. The Orange Bowl Classic has been held in late December for the past 21 years in South Florida (the past 10 in Sunrise) and features the only chance to see the Seminoles in Broward County. With the event being very fan friendly, the attendance and number of Florida State fans at the games has been impressive. For many, they do not have the chance to travel all the way to Tallahassee to watch a basketball game.
This will be the Seminoles seventh time appearing in the Classic, boasting a 5-1 record in their previous games. In last year's game, they upset then ranked #22 UMass. The Seminoles will face off against a 5-5 USF Bulls, who are coming off three straight loses in this years game. After the FSU game, the other school located just north of Ocala will face off against Wake Forest in this doubleheader Classic.
The event is held right in the middle of South Florida, in Sunrise at the BB&T Center (Formerly Bank Atlantic Center). Don't miss the only opportunity in Broward to support the basketball team in person. Tip off is scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday, December 20th.
