Selection Sunday didn't go well for FSU, who fell to 70th in a 68-team field after the loss to Virginia. But, this is college sports, so there are still post-season games to be played. The Noles drew a 1-seed in the NIT tournament, and will play last year's NCAA Cinderella in the opening round.
Florida Gulf Coast (22-12, 14-4) tied for 1st in their conference, but fell to Mercer in the conference championship game. They didn't have any notable out-of-conference wins, and this will be a game in which the Noles are significant favorites.
Should FSU advance, they'll play the winner of Georgetown and West Virginia. The Hoyas are an interesting team, as they began the season with 8 consensus top 100 recruits on their roster, which is more than all but four teams in college basketball.
As a 1-seed, the Noles have the opportunity to host up to three games before the NIT Final Four, which is held at Madison Square Garden.
The first game tips at 7pm on Tuesday, and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
