Florida State football, recruiting news 08/27

-Brendan Sonnone of the Orlando Sentinel writes that DT Derrick Mitchell is ready to step up in 2014. Mitchell has been a pleasant surprise in fall camp and is in line for a large workload this season.

-True freshman LB Delvin Purifoy will miss the 2014 season for FSU due to a dislocated ankle and broken tibia. Purifoy wasn't in contention for a starting LB spot but could have added depth to a thin linebacking corps.

-David Hale gives his bold predictions for the ACC in 2014. What's his boldest prediction?

-ESPN's staff of writers and personalties pick their conference champions, play-off teams, and national champions in this link. Who are your play-off teams?

-Miami RB Duke Johnson will be instrumental this season if Miami is to have any success. Johnson is one of the best players in the nation and will have a gigantic season in my opinion. Nice piece here.

-Clemson says it studied tape of their game vs. Florida State a season ago to observe how former Seminole defensive coordinator Jeremey Pruitt might run his schemes at Georgia. The Tigers and Dawgs play in a high profile non-conference game this weekend.

-The Florida Gators released their depth chart for the game against Idaho this weekend. I feel like Andre Debose has been there for 35 years, hopefully he stays healthy for them this season.
