Last November Leonard Hamilton reached into his recruiting bag-o-tricks and pulled a 6-10 forward from Lithuania named Norbertas Giga. But Giga didn't qualify, so Ham encouraged him to enroll at Tallahassee Community College and as far as we knew that was the end of it.

Now, 10 months after Giga committed, Florida State has landed his replacement as 6-10 PF Jakeem Yates has signed with the Seminoles.

Yates, out of West Charlotte (NC), was originally in the class of 2013. He was recruited by Ohio State and Wake Forest, but ended up going the prep school route. Now, a year later, he was recruited by Indiana (I don't believe they offered), Georgia Tech, Marquette, and Minnesota.

To say he's off the radar is an understatement. He has no profile at any of the major sites, but his high school film is pretty solid.

At 6-10, it's clear that he needs to put on weight, but he appears to be a solid anchor in the low post. Not overly athletic, but reminiscent of a young Ryan Reid (who Ham turned into an NBA draft pick).

I don't expect much out of him as a freshman, but that is not why he was recruited.
