Florida State's 29 game winning streak came to an end Thursday afternoon as the Oregon Ducks used a strong second half performance to demolish the Seminoles 59-20.
Florida State struck first after Roberto Aguayo nailed a 28 yard field goal with 9:06 remaining in the first quarter. The Ducks answered with a nine play 73 yard touchdown drive finished by a Royce Freeman 1 yard touchdown run. The two point play following the score was converted and Oregon led 8-3 to end the first quarter.
Florida State and Oregon traded field goals in the 2nd quarter making the score 11-6 with 5:18 left in the half. Oregon added a Thomas Tyner 1 yard touchdown run to cap a 10 play 75 yard drive taking the lead at 18-6 with 2:18 left in the half. FSU answered with an impressive six play 71 yard drive ending in a Karlos Williams 10 yard touchdown run cutting the Ducks' lead to 18-13 into the halftime break.
Oregon and Florida State traded to scores to start the second half, the Ducks with a Royce Freeman 3 yard scamper and Florida State with an 18 yard pass from Winston to Travis Rudolph, making the score 25-20 with 8:07 left in the third quarter.
From there it was all Oregon as they rattled off the next 34 points to put the Seminoles away for good. The Noles turned the ball over four times in the second half contributing largely to the Ducks' cause. The loss ends Florida State's season and their 29 game winning streak.
