With NFL scouts from the Colts, Panthers, Chiefs, and Eagles, as well as two scouts from the Buccaneers in attendance, the Florida State football team returned to practice on Tuesday as they continued their preparations for the NC State game this Saturday.
Injured/Absent
Mario Pender, who was cleared to participate in the Clemson game despite suffering a collapsed lung and resulting infection just a few months ago, was missing from Tuesday's practice. Offensive linemen Cole Minshew (concussion) and Derrick Kelly (knee) remain out, as they have for a lingering period of time. Otherwise, the team remains at a fairly high level of overall health with no new absences outside of Pender.
Offense
As he did on Monday and all of last week, Sean Maguire took the first quarterback reps, with Everett Golson working second and J.J. Cosentino serving as the third string. With Pender out of action, Dalvin Cook worked alongside Maguire with the first team, Jacques Patrick was the second string, and Jonathan Vickers worked third, next to Cosentino.
On the offensive line, Chad Mavety once again worked as the starting right tackle ahead of Brock Ruble while Kelly remains out. Alec Eberle continues to receive the first-team reps at center with Ryan Hoefeld as the second string. Rod Johnson, Kareem Are, and Wilson Bell continue to hold down the left tackle, left guard, and right guard spots, respectively.
Defense
Terrance Smith and Nile Lawrence-Stample seem to have fully acclimated back to the daily practice routine as they were once againfull practice participants. Lorenzo Featherston and Marcus Lewis participated for the second straight day, however they both sported the blue no-contact jerseys that they were seen in on Monday.
Special Teams
Tarvarus McFadden seems to have cemented a place in the future of the special teams gameplan as he saw reps as a second-team kick returner for the second consecutive day.
Up Next
Jimbo Fisher will talk to the media around 6 PM tonight and will be followed shortly thereafter by some Seminole players. Practice on Wednesday is closed to the media but expect our final practice report of the week on Thursday.
