FSU Basketball: Signing Day

FSU basketball could sign their best class in memory

Phil Sears-USA TODAY Sports

For the 2nd consecutive season, the Florida State Seminole basketball team will sign a nationally ranked recruiting class. Three players have been committed for months, and all three are expected to sign their LOI today, the first day of the early signing period.

The class is highlighted by 5* combo forward Jonathan Isaac. Isaac committed in July. The elite forward has been compared to Kevin Durant at the same age. He's stated that he'll be happy playing the 3 or the 4.

The class also includes two high-level back court recruits. 4* combo guard Trent Forrest was the first player to commit in this class. He's the No. 60 player in the nation according to the 247 Composite Rankings. Forrest is an efficient scorer who is always looking to get to the rim. He has great size for a guard and will make an immediate impact on both ends of the court.

The 2nd back court player is CJ Walker, a top candidate for Mr. Basketball in the state of Indiana. Walker is currently the No. 101 player in the nation. He's a 6-foot point guard who is noted for his scoring ability. Walker's school (Arsenal Tech) is hosting an event for its players to sign their papers. It begins at 6:00 PM local time (7 PM EST).

With four seniors on the roster and another two players who could jump early to the NBA, this class should grow by another 2-3 players. Top candidates include elite big men Udoka Azubuike and Dewan Huell, who could make their announcements at any time.

Update: Jonathan Isaac was the first 2016 commit to make it official when he signed his letter of intent late Wednesday morning.

Trent Forrest was the second Florida State commit to put pen to paper when he signed his letter of intent at his high school at 3 PM.

CJ Walker signed his LOI in a ceremony at his high school in Indianapolis at 7 PM.
