Florida State football, recruiting news: Does FSU have best cornerback pair in country?

- Wayne McGahee of Nole Digest poses the question of if Florida State has the best cornerback duo in the country or not.

- Aaron Brenner, Clemson beat writer for The Post and Courier, relays Dabo Swinney's interesting comments about Dalvin Cook's brief time spent as a Clemson commit.

- ESPN's David Hale addresses the wake-up call that Clemson received from NC State ahead of their all but ACC Championship play-in game with Florida State on Saturday.

The defense allowed more than 30 points in a game, much more, for the first time all season.

Every time Clemson thought it had put NC State away, the Wolfpack came sprinting back, two teams exchanging body blows again and again until the Tigers finally emerged.

This was not the game Clemson had expected, and it's not the form that's likely to beat Florida State on Saturday. But in the dress rehearsal for the Tigers' biggest game of the year, winning a shootout might have been necessary.

- Safid Deen of the Tallahassee Democrat points out that this week's game against Clemson will be by far the toughest challenge that this FSU defense will have faced.

Clemson — led by quarterback Deshaun Watson, who may be the best player the Seminoles face all season — has gained 1,190 yards of total offense on Miami and N.C. State in its last two games. Watson is coming off of a superior performance in a 56-41 win over N.C. State where he accounted for six touchdowns. Clemson's offense averages 40.6 points per game, good for 11th nationally.

FSU is ranked 14th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing teams to score an average of 16.8 points per game compared to 25.6 last season.

2017 4* CB Jamyest Williams, a target of the Seminoles and Tigers, announced on Twitter that he will be attending the FSU/Clemson game.
