Derwin James was named a member of the USA Today Freshman All-American team on Thursday, capping off a remarkable first-year campaign at Florida State.
James saw limited playing time early in the season, making only 2 tackles over the course of FSU's first three games. However, an injury to Nate Andrews created more playing time for James and he finished the season with a team-leading 43 tackles, 77 total tackles (2nd on team), 7.5 tackles for loss (2nd on team), 3.5 sacks (2nd on team), as well as 3 pass break-ups, 3 QB hurries, and 2 forced fumbles.
James was the only Seminole and one of only three ACC players named to the Freshman All-American team. Click here for a look at the complete team.
