The Florida State football team returned to practice Friday for their final practice of the week, donning full pads to continue their preparations for the New Years' Eve Peach Bowl showdown with the Houston Cougars. Senior linebacker Reggie Northrup returned to practice after being absent on Wednesday.
Injured/Absent
Two days after he was seen at practice using the assistance of crutches, Ermon Lane was not seen at today's practice. Offensive linemen Cole Minshew and David Robbins as well as defensive tackle Keith Bryant were not participating in practice once again. Missing from Friday's practice were Mario Pender, Ryan Izzo (family emergency), and Chad Mavety (flu).
Everett Golson was also missing from Friday's practice after participating on Monday and Wednesday.
Offense
Sean Maguire seemed more comfortable today, stopping less regularly to stretch out his back, an issue that he has been dealing with since the beginning of November.
Tight end Mavin Saunders remains fully dressed for practice but was wearing a non-contact jersey for the entirety of practice the media saw. RB Johnathan Vickers had a non-contact jersey tucked into the back of his pants but did not put it on while we were there.
The offensive line rotation remains the same from Wednesday's practice. From left to right, Rod Johnson, Kareem Are, Alec Eberle, Wilson Bell, and Brock Ruble were the first-team offensive linemen.
Defense
Linebacker Reggie Northrup was a full participant at practice after missing Wednesday. Lamarcus Brutus continues to practice with a non-contact jersey as he heals from the broken left hand suffered against Florida.
Derwin James spent a portion of practice where he would have otherwise been doing nothing working through defensive line drills with the other edge rushers under the instruction of defensive ends coach Brad Lawing.
Up Next
Jimbo Fisher will address the media after practice but the practice schedule for next week has not been released so it is unknown when the media will next be able to observe practice.
