Seminoles Baseball Host Dolphins in Midweek Showdown

The Seminoles look to get back on track against Jacksonville this afternoon starting at 4PM.

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

Florida State begins the first game of a 14 game home stand this afternoon as they play Jacksonville for the second time this season. The Noles are coming off a rough weekend that saw them lose two of three at Georgia as the youth of this team was exposed. Not that it matters this early in the season but the Noles dropped in the polls, they are now in the twenties for most and even dropped out of the D1Baseball poll.

The pitching needs to improve, both starters and relievers, and that can begin with Bryant Holtmann who only faced 15 batters last week against Jacksonville before being pulled. The bullpen has looked good at times and I would expect to see them with some frequency as Mike Martin figures out who he can trust and who he can't. The offense was absolutely terrible last week as they managed only four hits and stuck out 15 times against Dolphin pitchers. As a team the Noles have struck out 26 more times than they have walked, grossly uncharacteristic of what is a normally disciplined team.
