The Florida State Seminoles returned to the practice facility for their first early morning session of spring practice Saturday, and a number of recruits were on the scene to take in the sights and sounds.
Derrick Mitchell and Kermit Whitfield joined the list of players not dressed out including Chris Casher, Adam Torres, Delvin Purifoy, Da'Vante Phillips, Reggie Northrup and Josh Sweat. Mavin Saunders and Keith Weeks, who were not dressed out on Wednesday, were back and participating.
2015 ATH and FSU signee Marcus Lewis was on campus and watching practice on Saturday.
But Lewis wasn't the only visitor, there were also a number of recruits on hand. 2016 Four-star WDE Janarius Robinson, 2017 four-star SDE Jordan Riley, 2016 five-star ATH Levonta Taylor, 2016 G Steven Bodosky, 2016 three-star SDE Nick Coe and 2016 K Ricky Aguayo were all in attendance. Possible Notre Dame grad transfer Matt Hagerty was also there.
Alec Eberle was taking reps as the first team center on Saturday after taking reps behind Ryan Hoefeld on Wednesday. This is something that will be closely watched throughout spring and fall camp, and I fully expect a little back-and-forth movement at this position, creating extra competition.
With Derrick Mitchell sitting things out, Derrick Nnadi stepped in at defensive tackle as he did last season for Nile Lawrence-Stample. There were three guys rotating at defensive tackle including Demarcus Christmas, Fredrick Jones and Arthur Williams. I'll be interested to see how this plays out as well.
Matthew Thomas continued to take reps as a backup linebacker on Saturday, and Malique Jackson and Ryan Green took reps as the backup corners. Seems they're mixing things up early.
Jimbo Fisher will speak with the media following Saturday's session.
