Florida State stayed hot on the recruiting trail Monday night as linebacker Jamal Couch committed to the Seminoles, announcing the move on twitter. Out of Phenix City (Ala.) Central, Couch picked the Seminoles over offers from Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.
Couch visited FSU over the summer for the Jimbo Fisher football camp and was an impressive athlete. At 6'4 and 215 pounds, he has excellent size with potential to add more weight, offering great versatility. Couch, who was recruited by defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, visited the Seminoles in early March for its junior day and came away impressed with the experience.
He plays a flexed tight end position for his high school, but FSU clearly feels he has ability on defense, having worked with him in camp last year.
Couch is rated three stars on the 247Sports Composite, with Scout.com recently saying that he would be seeing an increase in his rating when the revisions come for its specific set.
Florida State needs to sign two or three linebackers in the class of 2016, and Couch is the third linebacker commitment along with Emmett Rice and Tyree Horton (JUCO). Florida State's class now has 11 commitments.
