Marconcini Earns National, ACC Player of the Week Honors

Release: 04/20/2015
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State's Chris Marconcini was named National and ACC Player of the Week after leading the Seminoles to a 4-0 record last week including a victory over No. 7 Florida and a three-game sweep of Pitt.

Marconcini hit .467 (7-for-15) in four games with five home runs, 13 RBIs, and six runs scored. A redshirt senior from Brentwood, Tennessee, Marconcini hit a home run in all four games, including two in the series opener against Pitt for his first multi-home game as a Seminole. He finished that game against the Panthers with a season-high three hits and six RBI.

The Seminole designated hitter opened the week with a solo shot in the bottom of the eighth that tied the game at 3-3 against the Gators and forced extra innings.

Against Pitt, Marconcini hit .500 with four home runs and 12 RBI as four of his five hits left the yard. In Friday's opening game, Marconcini hit a solo shot in the first, recorded an RBI single in the sixth and unloaded on a 2-2 pitch for a two-out grand slam in the eighth.

In the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday, Marconcini gave Florida State the early lead with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first. After driving in his first run of the afternoon in the second game of the doubleheader with a sac-fly, Marconcini followed with a two-run home run on a 3-2 pitch in the fifth to complete the home run cycle for the week.

Marconcini, who entered the week with just one home run and nine RBI to his name, now has six home runs and 22 RBI while raising his batting average 53 points. He earned national accolades from Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger.

Marconcini and the Seminoles are back in action on Tuesday, April 21 against Stetson. First pitch is scheduled for 6 pm on Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium.

Bryant Holtmann is on the mound for the Seminoles tonight  while the Hatters have yet to announce a starter. This game should be one that the Florida State wins as Stetson is only a game over .500 and has only 4 wins over teams with a RPI of 100 or better. Hopefully the Noles are not looking ahead at the huge series in Coral Gables this weekend and take care of business tonight.

The game is available to watch on ESPN3 and as always your play by play will be provided below.
