With a number of players still out, it's a chance for some of the backups to solidify their roles.
Lorenzo Featherston, Jacob Pugh, Kermit Whitfield, Derrick Kelly, Chad Mavety, Ethan Frith, Terrance Smith, Calvin Brewton and Jeremy Kerr were not dressed out, along with a number of those who we know are out for the spring. Mavin Saunders was in pads but seemed limited.
Nile Lawrence-Stample was not there, but Ryan Izzo was in pads and fully participating.
Worth noting: while not dressed, Mavety was without a boot again on Monday and working some solo drills for the first time since the injury.
Mario Pender and Bobo Wilson continued to be the first team duo returning kicks, while George Campbell and Travis Rudolph took reps with the second team.
Kick coverage looks pretty nasty - and also terrifying. Derwin James and Jalen Ramsey are the first two down field, and it seems they are intentionally placed next to each other.
The defense, missing a number of pieces, looked a little more familiar than it did on Saturday. Jalen Ramsey was back at corner opposite Ryan Green/Marquez White. Malique Jackson was shadowing Ramsey. Trey Marshall again assumed the star position with Lamarcus Brutus and Nate Andrews back at safety. When in the dime and dropping a linebacker (Tyrell Lyons), Derwin James stepped in. Rick Leonard continued to take reps on the end.
Former FSU LB Ernie Sims was inside Doak taking in practice as well.
