Florida State Baseball MLB Update: Week 17

Week 17 has come and gone, showing that Buster Poster is making his case for NL MVP. He is now third in batting average, ninth in runs batted in, and 10th in on-base percentage in the MLB. Another former player looking for an accolade, AL Rookie of the Year candidate Devon Travis continues to nurse a shoulder injury on the DL. Here is the full rundown from the past week.

Sean Gilmartin RP New York Mets:

Gilmartin appeared in one game this week, pitching two innings and giving up two runs while striking out two. He was tagged with the loss, his first of the season, and is now 1-1 on the year.

Season to date: 36 G 34 2/3 IP 2.45 ERA 33 K 1.20 WHIP

Shane Robinson OF Minnesota Twins:

Robinson went 2-6 in the past week off the bench. both of those hits were doubles and he added an RBI. So far in August, the outfielder is batting .308 with an on base percentage of .400.

Stephen Drew 2B New York Yankees:

Although he is not performing well this season, Drew has been consistent never less. He went 3-14 with 5 runs this past week with a double and two home runs. The second home run marked the third time in Drew's career in which he hit 15 home runs in a season, the first time since 2010.

Randy Choate RP St. Louis Cardinals:

Choate faced one batter this week, and walked him.

Buster Posey C San Fransisco Giants:

The NL MVP candidate had an off week for him, which would equate to an average week for everyone else. He went 7-24last week with two doubles and 3 RBIs. His average for the month of August is now .367 with a .407 OBP.
