Florida State football, recruiting news: Top tight end recruit to decide soon

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Here's Jimbo Fisher from after practice. He said that Reggie Northrup was getting scheduled rest, and that Jalen Ramsey has a tweaked ankle and that if a game were to be played Thursday that he would play. Fisher also complemented the tight ends. Nyqwan Murray will miss three weeks with a broken knuckle, and Auden Tate is out with a staph infection in his thumb.

-A look at the position battles heading into Miami's final scrimmage. I happen to think Miami could be improved this year, but the schedule is very tough. I continue to wonder about Miami's offensive line.

-Florida could have major impacts from three freshmen on offense -- Jordan Scarlett, Martez Ivey and Antonio Callaway.

-Wake Forest lost one of its most experienced receivers to an injury. Injuries suck.

Recruiting

Florida State 4-star QB recruit Malik Henry was either dismissed from or left IMG Academy this summer, and has been looking for a school ever since. It could be Long Beach Poly, back in Southern California where Henry is from.

I had a source tell me months ago that Poly would not take Henry, but things can change. The more interesting thing to watch is whether Henry home schools and plays for Poly, or if he actually takes classes at Poly. Also interesting will be whether Henry plays baseball this spring at Poly, or if he sticks with the plan to enroll early at Florida State. Multiple sources have expressed extreme skepticism about Henry having the credits to enroll early. If those rumors are true, playing baseball could potentially cover that up and give Henry time to work on his grades.

Could 4-star tight end Nasier Upshur soon be a Seminole?

If Upshur sticks with this, it could be good for the Seminoles as FSU has momentum.
