Practice was once again open a day after Dalvin Cook returned to the team from his indefinite suspension on a more tolerable day than the past few due to a pleasant breeze in FSU's practice facility. The NFL was well represented as scouts from the Titans, Steelers, and 49ers were in attendance.
Offense:
Dalvin Cook was a full participant in practice on his second day back, getting reps with Mario Pender and the other running backs. George Campbell remained in the non-contact jersey that we have seen him in repeatedly over the past week. Fellow wide receiver Auden Tate was fully participating for his second practice after missing some time due to a staph infection in his thumb. Ja'Vonn "Pigg" Harrison was also back at practice today wearing a brace on his knee. Deondre Francois was without the wraps on his legs that he was wearing at yesterday's practice. Derrick Kelly, who has played regularly with the 1s at right tackle throughout fall camp was fully dressed but not participating today and redshirt freshman Brock Ruble took his place with the 1s. Sean Maguire and Everett Golson continued to alternate reps with all of the quarterbacks and the running backs cycled through as well. However, it is worth noting that Golson was working on handoffs and pitches with Dalvin Cook more than any other duo of QB/RB that I saw. At tight end, Izzo was taking the first reps, followed by Mavin Saunders, Jeremy Kerr, and Jalen Wilkerson.
Defense:
Reggie Northrup and Calvin Brewton continued to be full participants in practice after missing time recently due to injury. However, there was a setback for Sh'mar Kilby-Lane, who sported a non-contact jersey again after multiple practices where he fully participated.
Special Teams:
Roberto Aguayo was especially ambitious in today's practice, working backwards all the way to attempting a 67-yard field goal from midfield which he missed by about 7 yards.
Injured/Absent:
Recent transfer offensive lineman Chad Mavety was missing from practice and offensive lineman Derrick Kelly was in attendance but not participating. Tarvarus McFadden and Marcus Lewis were once again absent from the field, and are not expected back until next week at the earliest. Nyqwan Murray was once again watching from the sideline as he continues to rehab from his broken knuckle but he was playing catch on the side with his good hand. Offensive lineman Cole Minshew was on the sidelines again with his foot in a boot but no crutches. Abdul Bello remained out with a wrap on his leg but no brace. Chris Casher and Lorenzo Featherston remained out with knee injuries.
The next practice will be on Thursday and will be open so expect another practice report at the same time tomorrow.
