Florida State football, recruiting news: Which players can FSU not afford to lose?

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

-Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Post lists the players that Florida State can least afford to use.

- Wayne McGahee, editor of Nole Digest, details the strides that Marquez White has made in his time at Florida State and his pursuit of the starting cornerback spot opposite Jalen Ramsey.

Florida State needed someone to step up and take the spot opposite of Ramsey, but Marquez White has done significantly more than that. With all the praise that his fellow players and coach Fisher have heaped upon him he has a lot to live up too. Let's see if he can translate it to the field on Saturdays.

-Good to note that White is also the punt returner now because of his consistent catching of the football, according to Jimbo Fisher.

-The Tallahassee Democrat's Safid Deen presents the possibility that this year's Florida State team can be both very good and have a lot of room for improvement.

-Ariya Massoudi, sports editor of the FSView, writes that ACC teams need to beat Florida State this year or it may be awhile before they get another chance this good.

- Luke Stampini of GatorBait reports that true freshman offensive tackle Martez Ivey will undergo a knee scope to investigate a possible injury. If it turns out to be serious, this is bad news for a UF OL unit that could ill afford to lose another lineman, especially one who has great potential for them. Update: Ivey is out 2-4 weeks, which is good news relative to initial fears.

-Good read on BC's evolving offense from David Hale. BC has to replace a similar amount on the OL as FSU, Louisville, Miami and Florida -- the four other least experienced OLs in the country.
