Florida State practice report: Chris Casher fully participating (Updated with Fisher quotes/video)

News, notes, and observations from the day's Florida State practice.

The Florida State football team returned to the Al Dunlap Practice Facility on a overcast Saturday accompanied by a slight drizzle for their final Saturday practice ahead of their season opening game against Texas State on September 5th.

Offense

Throughout practice today, Sean Maguire was working consistently with Mario Pender while Everett Golson worked regularly with Dalvin Cook. Derrick Kelly returned to practice after a few days off but he was limited as he sported a ankle brace on his right foot and worked with the 2s at right tackle while Brock Ruble continued to work with the 1s. Corey Martinez was working with the 1s at center for the first time since the middle of fall camp as Alec Eberle was absent from today's practice. Ryan Hoefeld stepped in to work with the 2s at center. Ja'Vonn "Pigg" Harrison and Auden Tate continued to work out with the wide receivers with Harrison wearing his knee brace once again.

After practice, Fisher continued giving up no information on the starting quarterback situation, saying, "We'll name it when it's right".

Defense

Chris Casher continued the impressive recovery path that he has been on, returning to full participation, albeit with a knee brace still on. Sh'Mar Kilby-Lane was a full participant in practice, shunning the non-contact jersey that he has been in and out of throughout fall camp.

Special Teams

Marquez White was taking reps as the starting punt returner, just as Jimbo Fisher said after Thursday's practice. Jesus "Bobo" Wilson was working as the second-string punt returner.

Injured/Absent

Freshman cornerback Tarvarus McFadden remained out on Saturday but he was working by himself on the sideline, running through some high knee drills. Nate Andrews fully participated on Saturday but had a cast on his hand. Fisher said that he is dealing with a thumb but that it will not stop him from playing. George Campbell was once again in a non-contact jersey and fellow wide receiver Nyqwan Murray was not participating, wearing the same soft cast that he was in on Thursday. Offensive lineman Chad Mavety missed another practice as he recovers from a concussion and Lorenzo Featherston was in attendance at practice but did not dress with the team. Cole Minshew was out, using the aid of a boot on his foot as well as crutches. Alec Eberle (unknown), Abdul Bello (knee) and Marcus Lewis (leg) were also not working out with the team.

Next Practice

Florida State will next practice on Monday but the practice will be closed to the media.
