FSU practice report: Mavety works out

New, notes, and observations from the day's Florida State practice.

The 'Noles returned to the practice field today for the first time since defeating the South Florida Bulls on Saturday. Mild temperatures in the low 80s moved into Tallahassee with the weekend's weather, and Florida State practiced a little later tonight. Since the Seminoles got going earlier last week to prep for Saturday's 11:30 am start, they may be re-adjusting their body clocks for Friday night's game at Boston College.

Offense

Offensive lineman Chad Mavety worked out individually in shells within the IPF when the rest of the team headed outside. Coming off a concussion, Mavety focused on exploding out of his stance and into a sprint. After stating earlier today that center Corey Martinez, right guard Wilson Bell, and right tackle Brock Ruble were "very" secure in their starting spots, those three again ran with the other ones (Rod Johnson and Kareem Are) on the offensive line. Wide receiver Nyqwan Murray's left-hand wrap continues to shrink to the point that he's now just wearing a glove with his first two fingers taped together. He looks very close to returning.

Defense

Nate Andrews' now signature club remains on his right hand and arm, but he participated fully. After spending some time on the stationary bike with a knee injury he suffered against Texas State, defensive tackle Keith Bryant was back at it today. DB Keelin Smith was once again wearing a non-contact jersey.

Injuries/Absent

Defensive end Chris Casher continues to miss time with an MCL injury, but Fisher expects him back sometime this week. Fellow end Lorenzo Featherston's rehab from a knee scope is ongoing, but Fisher told us earlier today that he could be back for the Wake Forest game. Frosh linemen Cole Minshew and Abdul Bello did not participate again. I didn't see DB Marcus Lewis, who has been out with a bone bruise.

Next Practice

FSU will practice again tomorrow afternoon, so check back for another practice report then.
