High School football is closing in on the end of it's first month of games. FSU recruiting targets and commits have been impressive so far.
Joey Gatewood, a 2018 QB target, continues to split reps with Jordan Smith. In Bartram Trail's 28-21 win over Fleming Island, Gatewood and Smith alternated every series. Gatewood ended up with 7 series on the night. Gatewood rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Malik Henry, a 2016 QB Commit, was finally cleared to play for Long Beach Poly. Unfortunately, Henry and his team played Bishop Gorman, the number 1 ranked team in the nation. Henry was 12/28 passing with 240 yards and 2 TDs in Poly's 52-13 loss. Henry's first pass of the night was a 65 yard touchdown pass.
Standford Samuels III, a 2017 DB target, continued filling in at Quarterback in Flanagan's 13-12 upset loss to South Plantation. Samuels had 2 rushing touchdowns in the loss.
Keith Gavin, a 2016 WR target, showed his versatility in Wakulla's 40-14 win over Trinity Catholic. Gavin had a 49 yard touchdown reception and a 74 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Amir Rasul, a 2016 RB commit, had a receiving touchdown in Coral Gables 14-7 win over Killian.
DJ Matthews, 2017 WR commit, caught 9 passes for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns in Trinity Chrisitan's 42-14 win over West Orange.
