Florida State football, recruiting news: How did FSU's opponents do in their season openers?

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

After extensive coverage of Florida State's season opening win over the Texas State Bobcats, here's a look at how FSU's 2015 upcoming opponents did this past weekend:

- USF (Week 2, 9/12) opened their season at home against the other university from Tallahassee, Florida A & M, with the Bulls steamrolling the Rattlers 51-3.

- Boston College (Week 3, 9/18) welcomed FCS opponent Maine for the first game of their season. Although BC struggled early, trailing 3-0 after 1 quarter, the Eagles rallied to win 24-3.

- Wake Forest (Week 5, 10/3) had a surprisingly potent offensive performance in their 41-3 win over Elon, the most points that the Demon Deacons have scored since 2012.

-Miami (Week 6, 10/10) blanked Bethune-Cookman in their opening game, 45-0.

- Louisville (Week 7. 10/17) traveled to Atlanta to take on the Auburn Tigers in the Chick-Fil-a Kickoff Classic. In the end, the Cardinals' comeback effort came up just short as they fell 31-24.

- Georgia Tech (Week 8, 10/24) hosted Alcorn State on Thursday night, scoring early and often in their 69-6 rout of the Braves.

-Syracuse (Week 9, 10/31) won their 2015 season opener 47-0 over Rhode Island but the most important storyline of the game was that Syracuse QB Terrel Hunt will miss the rest of the season with a torn achilles that he suffered in the first quarter of Saturday's game as reported by John Cassillo of Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician.

- Clemson (Week 10, 11/7) controlled their week 1 game with the Wofford Terriers, winning 49-10, but, like the Orange, one of Clemson's prominent contributors suffered a severe injury as 2014 leading receiver Mike Williams fractured a bone in his neck, an injury that should take at least 2 months to recover from according to Brian Goodison of Shakin' the Southland. If the 2-month window for recovery is correct, Williams will likely miss until right around Florida State's trip to Death Valley.

- NC State (Week 11, 11/14) beat the Troy Trojans, of the Sun Belt Conference, 49-21.

- Chattanooga (Week 12, 11/21) was outdueled by Jacksonville State, 23-20.

- Florida (Week 13, 11/28) began the Jim McElwain era with a 61-13 destruction of the New Mexico State Aggies.

Opponent W/L record: 9-3
